NAS® is the trade name for INEOS Styrolution brand of styrene methyl methacrylate (SMMA). NAS® is produced from styrene monomer and methyl methacrylate and offers excellent processability, low moisture absorption, low residual stress, high rigidity, low density and excellent clarity and optics. NAS® is an amorphous polymer that offers the high clarity of acrylic with the excellent processability of polystyrene. Most grades of NAS® come with FDA and medical approvals. NAS® is commonly used in applications such as glassware, pitchers, faucet knobs, cosmetic packaging, toys, POP displays and office parts. NAS® can be impact modified to improve impact and toughness while maintaining clarity. NAS® can also be used as a processing aid to reduce the fusion time in PVC compounds.
