Customer PortalTrinseo PULSE™ PC/ABS is a high-performance engineering resin based on a blend of Polycarbonate and ABS. Producing blends of these two polymers results in a resin with the advantages of both PC and ABS. The PC provides high-temperature resistance and excellent impact performance while the ABS brings excellent processability and cold-temperature toughness. PULSE™ PC/ABS resins are an excellent choice for applications requiring high-temperature resistance and good impact performance. Because of their excellent low-temperature toughness, they are especially suited to applications that see broad temperature extremes, from low to high temperatures. In addition, many grades of PULSE™ PC/ABS are suitable for painted or electroplated applications such as automotive trim and wheel covers. PULSE PC/ABS is available in grades offering high flow, high heat resistance, super low-temperature toughness, and paintability / electroplatability.
PULSE™ PC/ABS can be processed on all standard injection molding equipment, but because it is hygroscopic it does require proper drying. Drying to a moisture content of 0.03% is required for optimum properties and aesthetics. Regrind can be used with PULSE™ resins provided that the regrind is properly dried and free of foreign contamination. PULSE™ PC/ABS can be easily colored at the machine but the color concentrate must be compatible, and therefore a PC/ABS carrier resin is strongly suggested.
