Customer PortalCelanex® thermoplastic polyester (PBT) is a semicrystalline engineering plastic based on polybutylene terephthalate that provides high strength, rigidity, toughness and low creep even at high temperatures. They are also resistant to a wide range of chemicals, solvents, oils and greases.
Celanex® PBT features excellent dimensional stability, low moisture absorption and powerful insulation resistance and is also available for conventional and halogen-free flame retardant products. Polybutylene terephthalate is generally suited as a sliding partner for Hostaform®/Celcon® POM.
Many Celanex® PBT grades are available with an ECO-B option. By using the mass balance process, the benefits of using renewable raw materials can be allocated to specific products to help customers meet their sustainability objectives. For customers in highly specified industries such as Medical or Personal Care, many Celanex® PBT grades can be offered with an ECO-B option to enhance sustainability. On a polymer basis, the ECO-B option can offer up to 40% renewable content and up to 50% CO2 footprint reduction using waste-based feedstocks.
For industries searching for an aesthetic and sustainable option, using our MIC (Mold-In-Color) Technology helps eliminate costly and pollutive painting, coating, transportation and finishing steps in many applications and it keeps the color even if the part gets damaged by the user.
PBT/PET blends offer advantages in visual applications with demanding requirements in surface appearance. Some PBT/PET blends are available as ECO-R grades containing minimum 25% post-consumer recycled PET.
Depending on market requirements, the Celanex PBT flame-retardant system is low in migration and halogen-free.
Various grades of Celanex PBT hold regulatory approvals including VDE or UL approvals for the electrical and electronic market, and FDA approval for the nutrition and medical markets.
