What is a cap? What is a closure?
- A Cap seals the top opening of a bottle or container.
- A Closure is a device designed to close off the opening of a container and prevent the loss of its contents. Closures allow you to open a container, access the contents, and then reseal the container.
Child resistant
These caps are required for certain applications such as over the counter drugs. In order to open them you must push down on the cap while simultaneously turning counterclockwise. This is what makes these types of caps difficult for children to open.
Dispensing cap
Dispensing caps represent a wide variety of caps for products that are used in measured amounts. Types of dispensing caps include: disc top caps, fine mist sprayers, glass dropper, orifice reducer, pump dispensing caps, snap top caps, twist top caps, and trigger sprayers.
Flip top
Flip top caps come in various sizes, shapes, colors, thicknesses and patterns so they offer a wide range of options to choose from. Flip top caps can be used with thin or thick liquids. The range of styles allow them to work in a wide range of applications. Users flip the spout up to open and push it down to close. When closed the spout helps to prevent leakage of the product.
Twist top
Twist top caps open and close with a twist of the cap. Turning the cap counterclockwise opens the cap while turning it clockwise closes it. Twist top caps are commonly used for condiments such as mustard.
Push-pull
Push-pull caps are commonly used in sports drink bottles and dish detergent bottles. Push-pull caps consist of a threaded base and a plastic spout. To open, you simply pull up on the spout, and to close you push down on the spout.
In addition to these types of caps & closures, there are additional types such as continuous thread, tamper evident, lug caps, snap caps, bar top caps, disc top, brush cap, dropper caps and plugs, towel lid, and flapper cap.
