BioLogiQ Product Guide
Entec Polymers is proud to offer NuPlastiQ BioPolymer and BioBlend® Resin from BioLogiQ. These revolutionary products offer unique opportunities for biobased sustainable plastics. NuPlastiQ is produced through a proprietary production process, called EcoLogiQ, developed by BioLogiQ. It starts with 100% USDA certified plant based carbohydrates. These carbohydrates, from food scraps, are converted into a thermoplastic starch product called NuPlastiQ. The NuPlastiQ then goes through a reactive extrusion process where it is compounded with traditional polymers like LLDPE, HDPE, PP, PS and HIPS to create BioBlend® Resins. BioBlend® is then added like a masterbatch to the customers polyolefin product at levels between 5% to 40%. Adding the BioBlend® to your product can provide a number of advantages:
- It reduces the amount of fossil fuel-based plastics used in your product
- It can reduce your carbon-footprint
- It can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions
- It can increase your renewable material content
- It can help you reach your end-of-life and sustainability goals
- It can help to reduce plastic pollution
Common processing methods used to convert BioBlend® includes blown and cast film, blow molding, injection molding, extrusion and thermoforming.
Typical Film Applications for BioBlend® Resins includes:
- Form Fill Seal Films
- Lamination Films
- Stand Up Pouches
- Shrink Film
- Stretch Film
- Trash Liners
- Shopping Bags
Typical Injection & Blow Molded Applications for BioBlend® Resins includes:
- Caps & Closures
- Reusable Cups
- Disposal Cutlery
- Personal Care Bottles
Typical Extruded Applications for BioBlend® Resins includes:
- Sheet & Thin Wall Thermoformed Cups
- Food Trays & Plates
NuPlastiQ and BioBlend® Resins from BioLogiQ open up additional opportunities for sustainable plastic solutions for our customers. In addition to the advantages described above they do not form nano or micro particles upon degradation. The EcoLogiQ manufacturing process is a key difference between NuPlastiQ and other thermoplastic starches. This process provides for nano level dispersion of the starch which helps prevent the formation of small micro-sized particles once the polymer degrades.
