Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. PET is FDA approved, lightweight and recyclable. This makes it especially popular for packaging foods and beverages, like soft drinks and water.
Unfilled Polyethylene terephthalate is a transparent commodity resin that is commonly used in blow molded bottles such as soda or water bottles. Glass or mineral reinforced PET is a true engineering resin offering good mechanical, thermal, chemical and electrical properties as well as good resistance to weathering.
