Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous engineer polymer that has excellent mechanical, optical, and thermal properties. Key characteristics of PC include high impact strength, very high clarity, high heat resistance, and excellent dimensional stability, PC is also easily modified to improve is flammability resistance and UV resistance. In addition, many grades of PC have FDA food contact approval. PC is process by most standard methods including injection molding, blow molding, sheet and profile extrusion and foaming.
Typical applications for PC include optical lenses, eye ware, CD and DVDs, health care components, large water bottles, electronic equipment housings, cell phone housings, kitchen and tableware, lighting and automotive components.
