Polyamide 612 (PA 612, Nylon 612) is produced by the polymerization of hexamethylene diamine and dodecanedioic acid. Nylon 612 is a semi-crystalline engineering resin that has the best characteristics of both nylon 6 and nylon 12. Nylon 6 offers a higher melting temperature and better elevated short term temperature resistance, while the nylon 12 offers low water absorption, good UV and chemical resistance, good hydrolysis and zinc chloride resistance, and high flexibility. Nylon 612 can be processed by most standard processing methods. Typical applications for nylon 612 include fuel line, air lines, hose and tube, quick connectors, automotive cooling lines, and various injection molded parts.
