Polyamide 12 (PA 12, Nylon 12) is produced from the ring-opening polymerization reaction of laurolactam. Nylon 12 is known for its excellent balance of properties including high impact strength, good UV/weathering resistance, good resistance to chemical, excellent abrasion resistance, minimum moisture absorbance, good dimensional stability, low density, good barrier properties and excellent low temperature impact performance. Nylon 12 can be processed by most standard processing methods.
Common applications for Nylon 12 include hose and tube, cable sheathing, cable ties, profiles, slide bearings, housings, automotive and diesel fuel lines, air lines, brake lines, parts for the textile industry, seals, membranes, and pipes, parts for the sanitary industry, sports and leisure, and packaging.
