Cyclic olefin copolymers (COC) are high performance, amorphous, transparent copolymers based on cyclic olefins and linear olefins. COC's exhibits a unique combination of properties which can be modified by varying the chemical structure of the copolymer. Key characteristics of COC's are low density, high transparency, very low water absorption and low water vapor transmission, temperature resistance up to 170°C, high stiffness and strength, excellent biocompatibility and easy processability. Typical applications for COC are optical data storage, optics, lenses, sensors, lightening, film, blister packaging, shrink sleeves, stand up pouches, pharmaceutical and medical packaging and diagnostic disposables.
