Acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) is a weatherable styrenic copolymer. While ASA has many physical and mechanical properties that are similar to ABS, it has several distinct advantages. Key characteristics of ASA include its excellent resistance to weathering and UV degradation, resistance to color fading, retention of properties over time, and compatibility with ABS and PVC. ASA is heavily used in the automotive market in applications such as mirror housings, radiator and cowl vent grilles, B-pillars, and other exterior trim. It is also used in satellite dishes, utility signs, mailboxes, door and window trim, camper tops, small boats, spas, outdoor housings, fencing and weatherable vinyl siding capstock.
